The Dart Valley &

Kingsbridge Running Day

September 14th – 18th , 5 days


A late season tour to enjoy the delightful area around the River Dart in south Devon, with two steam railways, paddle steamer and the Kingsbridge Running Day which has become an established event in the heritage bus calendar. We will again be using the Frognel Hall Hotel, Torquay, which enjoys a quiet location with views across the bay.

OUTLINE ITINERARY

Thursday) Pick up points at Lymington, for island ferry connection, then Dorchester for mainline rail connections, thence onward into Devon. We can also arrange pick up at Newton Abbot station if required.

Friday) Drive to Buckfastleigh for a trip on the delightful South Devon Railway along the picturesque Dart Valley to Totnes and return. We will then continue to nearby Buckfast Abbey.

Saturday) A short drive to Paignton to join the steam railway to Kingswear, a very scenic route with both coastal and river scenery. Then we cross by ferry to Dartmouth and take a cruise on the River Dart aboard the coal fired paddle steamer “Kingswear Castle”

Sunday) We head for Kingsbridge and spend the day enjoying the variety of routes operated by heritage buses and coaches.

Monday) Time to return home.

Tour price is just £445 per person, which includes all travel with the group and four nights dinner, bed and breakfast accommodation at the Frognel Hall Hotel. A LIMITED number of single rooms are available at no supplement. Please note that the tour is limited to a maximum of twenty places. Deposit £50 per person to confirm bookings please.
