Statfold Gala & Midlands Miscellany,

September 10th - 15th, 6 days

Following the success of our first visit to Statfold in 2019, I have had requests to return, so here is a further chance, but with a revised itinerary for the rest of the tour.

OUTLINE ITINERARY

Thursday) Our tour will commence at Winchester, with our own vintage Bedford OB coach, with an additional pick up at Didcot en route to our base at Hinckley. If you are travelling from further afield, we will arrange a further pick up near Hinckley. (Probably Nuneaton)

Friday) A gentle trip on the Grand Union Canal, at Foxton, famous for the flight of ten locks.

Saturday) A day at the remarkable Statfold Barn Railway, an impressive private narrow gauge collection, for their Road, Rail and Ale weekend. We can expect a dozen or more engines to be in steam!

Sunday) By way of a contrast, a day at the Great Central Railway

Monday) We have arranged a visit to the Taylor Bell Foundry in Loughborough, the largest bell foundry in the world, with a history dating back several centuries. We will also visit Shepshed watermill.

Tuesday) Time to travel home
